New 10 Gigabit Filtering Enhancements
Wednesday 24th September, 2008
Hyderabad
The buzz surrounding 10 Gigabit monitoring solutions is growing as our channel partners, OEM partners, and end users roll out new high-speed networks and upgrade legacy links. Net Optics has responded with the industry's broadest range of 10 Gigabit data monitoring solutions, including Network Taps, Bypass Switches, Aggregation Taps, Regeneration Taps, and Media Converters, all running at 10 Gigabit speeds. However, as users Tap into their 10 Gigabit data streams, the sheer amount of data quickly becomes overwhelming. We've listened to customers and incorporated various new on-the-fly traffic filtering techniques, such as:
- Delivering only packet headers to the monitoring tools, and discarding the payload that is often unnecessary for protocol and performance analysis
- Distributing traffic from a single 10 Gigabit link out to multiple 1 Gigabit monitoring tools
- Filtering traffic by protocol type, IP addresses and ports, and even payload content so tools receive only traffic of interest
Net Optics is already delivering some of these capabilities today.

The iTap 10 GigaBit Port Aggregator includes a packet-slicing feature that forwards only packet headers to monitoring tools. Additional features-and much more-will be available in the upcoming release of Director, the industry's newest Data Monitoring Switch. Stay tuned.
